Supplemental Outreach Initiatives
1. Job Fair – Mat-Su Community College
Spirit of Alaska Broadcasting co-sponsored and promoted the Career
Connections Job Fair in the facilities of the Mat SU College Campus.
The public was invited to meet area employers who were recruiting for part-time
and full-time positions. More than 60 area employers participated in the
2010 Job Fair. Attendees learned about the local job market and the
responsibilities and requirements needed in various positions. SOAB
conducted on site interviews with potential applicants for future positions.
These interviews were for positions in sales, operations and in business office.
2. Broadcasting Career Days at KMBQ Radio-
Open house is available to the local high schools to come in and tour the radio station and be informed how operations work, and to explore occupations in the broadcast industry.
3. Colony High School Career Day-
Our owner and General Manager spoke to local students on occupations related to the broadcast industry.
4. Charter College Outreach Program
Our Operations Director was a guest in January on a panel formed and charged with helping Charter College develop programs and areas of study that would enhance the readiness of graduates to immediately join the work force.
